I'm Mousumi Sengupta, a BACP registered counsellor offering counselling in South Manchester, Didsbury and online. My journey in helping professions spans over two decades, reflecting my deep commitment to supporting others through life's challenges.
Before finding my true calling as a counsellor, I spent several years in education as a teacher, creating nurturing environments for learning and growth. I then dedicated seven years to working with elderly in South Manchester, helping prevent social isolation through community engagement. These experiences shaped my understanding of how vital safe, compassionate spaces are for personal development and wellbeing.
My counselling journey began with five years of intensive training, during which I underwent significant personal growth through reflection, processing grief, and healing. This transformative experience enhanced my self-awareness and deepened my capacity for empathy and non-judgmental support.
Today, I specialise in supporting clients through trauma and complex grief. My work with organisations supporting domestic violence and honour-based violence survivors has given me extensive experience in working with Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (CPTSD). Additionally, my role at NUPAS has deepened my expertise in helping clients navigate complex grief and loss.
My background as someone who moved from India to the UK over two decades ago gives me a unique perspective on cultural transitions and identity. Having lived in various parts of the world, I bring a rich understanding of diverse cultural experiences to my practice. My love for nature, photography, world cinema, spirituality and history has broadened my worldview and enriches my work as a counsellor.
